Congratulations on your newly finished hardwood floors!
Kimminau Floors only uses premium finishes that meet our durability and convenience standards. These finish types have come a long way over the past decade.
You may have heard no area rugs for 30 days for example…. thanks to technological advances, it’s now 3 days.
You’ve made a big investment, the first week is critical.
Here’s a summary of how to handle that first week…aka Tiptoe Time.
- Walking on the floors: sock feet for the first 48 hours.
(If possible, wait 24 hours. The floor finish will dry to touch in 2 hours but it’s really sensitive for the first 24 hours.)
- Furniture — Let the finish fully cure for 2-3 days.
(Time will depend on site conditions and the finish type.)
- Area Rugs — Let the finish fully cure for 3 days.
(Please read this blog about selecting the proper rug pads for your area rugs.)
- Water/Cleaner — Wait a full 5 days before using any cleaning (check out our full maintenance blog here) solution or water.
(Use a soft, dry mop or vacuum to remove dust and debris instead mop kit.)
- Pets — The finish needs to fully cure, please wait 3 full days.
Note: Additional air circulation from open windows and fans will also help a finished floor cure faster
